Loved every bit of it. The boat is cute and cozy, yet spacious and airy - fits about 12 people so you get to meet the... other folks on the boat. The engine is battery powered so very quiet and easy to hear the guide without a microphone. It's sheltered from wind/sun and rain yet you don't feel enclosed and still have a great view. So much nicer than one of the large tour boats as you can ask lots of questions re: your particular interest. They will change course depending on your interest and the weather. Guide was very knowledgeable and interesting. Affordable. Easy to park at the Purdy's Warf parkade - 2 minute walk to the boat from more

A 60-minute guided boat tour in and around Halifax’s beautiful harbour on a replica 1930’s style harbour launch with a modern twist. It’s all-electric, ultra quiet, environmentally friendly, and personable. We take six passengers each tour, and every passenger enjoys spacious, comfortable seating and the attention of your super Tour Guide. Our boats are “classic European river boat” style vessels with hardwood canopies that can be opened or closed depending on the weather. We think they are the classiest and most comfortable boats on the harbour!

Our tours are all about you, our Guests. Your certified Captain will plan your tour based on weather, marine traffic, special events, and other local knowledge. Areas your tour may explore include Bedford Basin, George’s and McNab’s Islands, and of course, the water views of the Halifax skyline. Marine wildlife love our whisper-quiet electric motors, so you are sure to see some of the many birds, mammals, and other aquatic life in our harbour during your tour.

The tour departs from the dock in front of Sea Smoke Restaurant & Bar at Bishop’s Landing in the heart of Halifax’s beautiful waterfront.

Tour cost is $30+hst per person. Interested in private tours or corporate bookings? Get in touch with us!

What to expect

Your Halifax Harbour Tour is unique every single time! Your captain will chart a course for your tour based on factors such as weather, marine traffic, special events, and many others, with one goal in mind: to give you the most enjoyable relaxed tour of our beautiful harbour!

Some parts of the harbour you might see on a tour include Dartmouth and Halifax Waterfronts , George’s and McNab’s Islands, and of course, the Halifax Harbour marine wildlife. They love our ultra-quiet electric motors, so you are sure to see some of the many birds, mammals, and other aquatic animals in our harbour during your tour.

The cabin roof can be opened or closed depending on the weather, and we will always do our best to make sure you are comfortable. The cabin is not fully enclosed, so on cooler, drizzling days, please come prepared for the day’s weather. We have blankets for your use on board should you need them.

Generally speaking, dress appropriately for the weather, and keep in mind it tends to be a little cooler and breezier on the water. Also be sure to wear sun protection, even on cloudy days!

Harbour Tours are suitable for everyone, of all ages. There is no substantial physical effort required to enjoy our tours, but please note that there is a ramp between the wharf and the dock, and a small step up is necessary from the dock into the boat. Of course, we can offer a helping hand. Most able-bodied Guests have no problem with this. Kids LOVE our tours, and so does the rest of the family. We promise!

Tours are generally “rain or shine” as our boat is covered though not fully enclosed. However, winds of 25 km/hr or more will necessitate cancellation for safety reasons. Heavy rain or fog may cause us to cancel a scheduled tour in order to prevent a disappointing or soggy tour — no fun if you are wet or cannot see anything!

If the Captain decides a tour needs to be cancelled, we will immediately notify you by text and/or email and either refund the full cost of your booking, or offer to book you on another tour if you would like. We recommend that Guests opt-in for text message updates upon checkout so that we can get in touch with you quickly and easily.

We would like our boat to be accessible to people of all abilities, and while the ramp from the wharf onto the dock may be navigable, the step from the ramp into the boat may not be for everyone and we are therefore unable to accommodate guests who are unable to leave their wheel chair or scooter.

If you are able to leave your wheel chair/scooter for short distances we would ask that you can be assisted by a member of your own party as our staff are not trained healthcare providers and they may be unable to assist you onto the boat without the aid of a guest in your party.

Please get in touch if you have any questions or concerns.

Pets are not allowed on tours. Certified Service Animals are permitted and must be kept on leashes at all times.

Given the amount of space on your boat, we may be unable to accommodate a stroller on board as Transport Canada Regulations do not allow blockage of exits or passageways. Check with your captain or call ahead.

Our crew do not expect guests to leave them tips. That said, our captain and tour guides are allowed to accept tips if offered to them, so if you feel that someone on your tour deserves a tip and you wish to give them one, you are more than welcome to do so — and we thank you for your generosity!

If you wish to leave a tip for your Guide and/or Captain but do not have any cash on hand, ask them about their “digital tip jar” that allows you to send them a tip using your credit card.

The boat meets all the requirements for Transport Canada’s Small Vessel Compliance Program.

We carry 4 emergency life jackets on board for guests 30lbs (14 kg) and up, and we have one life jacket for an infant. Please contact us ahead of time if you wish to ensure that there is a life jacket on board that will fit your child. Transport Canada does not recommend children wear life jackets in an enclosed vessel. We do ask you keep children seated or hold their hands if they are moving around the boat. Our Captain and guides hold emergency first aid certificates and do regular safety drill.

Covid-19 cleaning guidelines are followed per provincial directives. Crew will be wearing masks and using hand sanitizer frequently and guests will be asked to use hand sanitizer provided before boarding and upon leaving the boat. Crew will have temperature checks daily and tours will be cancelled if staff are unwell. Contact information will be maintained should contact tracing be required.

We accept all major credit cards online through our website and on the dock. On the dock, we also accept cash payment in CAD or USD (USD is accepted on par with CAD), and tap-enabled debit cards. Please get in touch if you have any questions or issues.

Booking through our website is the quickest and easiest option for most guests, but you may also contact us if you would prefer to book using some other method.

All bookings are offered at the same low rate, regardless of age of the guest. We have found this to be the best way to make our tours affordable for the greatest number of people.

Tour bookings are non-refundable and non-transferable. This policy enables us to make tours available to the greatest number of people at our always-low rates. Please get in touch if you have any questions or concerns.

We are happy to offer private tours and group bookings. We can accommodate six guests for bookings this season. Just get in touch with us and we’ll work with you to make your event fun and memorable (not to mention picturesque)!

Checking in

When you arrive at the dock, please present your guide with the booking confirmation that you received by email when you booked your seats. You can show it to us on your phone, or you can bring along a printed copy.

We encourage all guests to arrive about 15 minutes before the scheduled tour start time.

Our schedule does not allow for departure time flexibility and we do not issue refunds for missed tours, so we recommend adding some extra time for getting to the departure area.

You should receive a booking confirmation email shortly after you have completed your booking. If you don’t get an email, please check your Spam folder to see if it was mistakenly marked as spam by your email provider. If you can’t find your booking confirmation, you can contact us to help you to retrieve it.

We may be able to help you retrieve your booking on the dock if your guide has time to do so prior to the tour’s departure, but we ask that you please make every effort to have access to your booking prior to arriving at the dock.
